Stage Aurora Theatrical Company, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization will present the Tony Award-winning Best Musical,?The Wiz, July 21-22.
Back by popular demand, Stage Aurora Theatrical Company will headline its 5th?Annual Aurora Jacksonville Black Arts Festival with a remount of its successful production of THE WIZ. The four-day festival (July 20-23) will be held at the Stage Aurora Performance Hall inside of Gateway Town Center located at 5188 Norwood Avenue. The Festival will also feature a variety of entertainment: Theatre, Visual Art, Film, Dance, Children activities, and Food!
Among the Festival features are: THE WIZ (for 3 performances only); ?Though, I?m not Perfect?, a film by Stacey Sargeant; A Night of Entertainment (Performing Arts Summer Institute summer camp showcase), Oceanus Tae Kwan Do Exhibition, Jacksonville Consortium of African-American Artists (JCAAA) art exhibit, WhiteRobin Acting Workshop/Intensive, Top Chef Extravaganza, and much more.
The Documentary Film -?Though I?m Not Perfect? gives viewers an intimate look at triple threat, Stacey Sargeant?s, challenging journey to become a ballerina. She and other industry insiders expose the physical and psychological dangers of the ballet world on young girls by explaining how their teachers impacted their dreams by promoting certain body types. The WhiteRobin Group is dedicated to the growth and development of Artists and will offer two days of intense training in the craft of Acting with scene work, acting exercises, and much more. WhiteRobin Group is under the direction of Jacksonville native and Broadway veteran Angela Robinson and Classical Actor Scott Whitehurst.
